John White
Board Chair

John M. White, Elder/Chairman of the Board. John is a lifelong member of Union Christian Church. He is a Veteran (USA 1977-1980), a graduate of Indiana State University and Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis. John and his wife Suzanne reside in Franklin, Indiana.

Ellen Paris
Financial Secretary

Ellen is married to Rick 35+ years and has 3 grown children with 3 bonus daughters and 3 granddaughters (so far)! Ellen is a retired Elementary School Counselor of 30+ years in the field of Education. She currently is a Life Coach with Kenosis. She has served many roles in her church and loves to serve Jesus & others! Gardening, Yoga, LGBTQ ally, Horses, Learning, Traveling & Anything Outdoors are her passions besides her God & Family!

David Bauman
Treasurer

Retired from teaching high school math for 40 years, David has attended Union since he was a child. He has held almost every office in the church, even filling the pulpit on occasion. Currently he serves as the treasurer. David and his wife Karen are the proud parents of two grown sons and two grandsons. David currently manages the food pantry in Edinburgh and volunteers with several other organizations.

Becky Canary
Spiritual Life Ministry

Becky has been a member of UCC for over 46 years and has served as an Elder, as well as many committees and positions on the Board; along with serving in Disciples Women. She has had the honor to be involved in mission work in Jamaica, Mississippi, Southern Indiana and locally. She has been the church pianist for many years.

Becky retired from teaching at Whiteland Community High School after 36 years. She is a 4H Leader, Fair Board Volunteer and on the Task Force of Youth Leadership Academy. She enjoys crafts, flowers and time spent with her four grandkids’ activities.

Charlie Canary
Christian Action Ministry

Charlie is a lifelong member of UCC, being raised in the Union Community within a 1/2 mile of the church. He is a 6th generation farmer. He and Becky were married in 1979 and farm about 500 acres of crops, hay, and beef cattle. They have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Charlie farms with John; and Emily is an elementary teacher. Charlie drove a school bus for 41 years, and he and Becky are 40+ year leaders of 4-H. Charlie is currently serving as the Christian Action Ministry Team Chairman, and has served in numerous positions in the past. In their free time, he and Becky like spending time with family and grandkids. They also like excursions into Amish Country.

Lori Sewell
Discipleship Ministry

Lori Sewell is a lifelong member here at Union. She has held many positions and performed many duties over the years including Disciples Women (DW) President, Vacation Bible School Director, Deacon, Deaconess, Pork Roast Chairman, etc. She is currently the Leader of the Evangelism Ministry and is the Church Secretary. Lori lives in Franklin with her husband Marty. Combined they have 4 daughters, 1 son, 3 granddaughters and 1 grandson. She enjoys crafting, swimming, and visiting with family.

Carol & Larry Hicks
Custodians

Carol and Larry are our Custodians. Carol retired from working as a Qualified Medication Assistant after 32 years and has served as Custodian since 2008 at Union Christian Church. Larry retired as a sheet metal worker after 40 years; working as a Project Manager and CAD Designer.

Their hobbies include carpentry work, mushroom hunting, fishing poetry, photography, puzzles, playing cards and grandchildren. They have four children and three grandchildren.
